Bio until Skyrim: In 4E 180, a small boy was found wandering the streets of the Imperial City alone, crying for his mother. The guards took him to the orphanage in the Waterfront District. A year passed, and no one claimed him. At this time the boy’s magical abilities began to manifest, nearly burning down the orphanage. Word of this incident spread throughout the province, as did rumors of a “Monster Child” that caused it. These rumors reached a mage living in the town of Cropsford. Intrigued by these rumors, this mage, Brutus Vesuvio, travelled to the Imperial City to help this boy. When Brutus arrived, he found that not only were the children afraid of this boy, but so were the women running the orphanage. So much so that they kept him locked in a small, stone room in the basement, to keep him from burning down the orphanage. Brutus goes down to this room to find that this so-called “Monster Child” is just a small, lonely, frightened 4-year old boy, that’s having trouble controlling his newly awakened powers. Brutus adopts this boy as his son and names him Gaius. He then takes him home to Cropsford to teach Gaius how to master his gifts. After 15 years of living together as father and son, Brutus unfortunately passes away. Gaius grieves for his loss, but is eventually able to move on with his life. He joins the Synod in the hopes of continuing his studies, only to find that they care more about one upping the College of Whispers than teaching the apprentices. Gaius begins meeting with a group of apprentices who wish to leave and study magic independently. At this time, a young Khajiit woman named Tsaravi arrives at the Synod, and becomes just as disillusioned as Gaius. The two strike up a friendship, and Gaius encourages her to join him and his group in leaving the Synod. The group sets up in the Ayleid ruin Moranda, and for two years they do quite well. Once they learn of the College of Winterhold, Gaius and Tsaravi leave the group. They go to Chorrol to contract the Adventurers for Hire, J’Khasha and Gazes-At-Stars, to escort them to Winterhold. As they travel north and adventure together, the four become friends. At Winterhold, Gaius finally finds the guidance he had been looking for since Brutus passed. When Gaius and Tsaravi are sent out on field assignments, they hire J’Khasha and Gazes to escort them whenever possible. During one of these assignments in Markarth, Tsaravi inadvertently implicates J’Khasha and Gazes in a crime, who are then forced to join the Legion to avoid a harsh prison sentence. When rumors of dragons returning reaches Winterhold, Gaius is skeptical; that is until J’Khasha and Gazes show up at the College with the Dragonborn, looking for an Elder Scroll, and a dragon tries to stop them.
