Bio until Skyrim: Gazes-At-Stars was born in Chorrol. His father was an adventurer, who would often regale Gazes with tales of his exploits. This instilled Gazes with a sense of wanderlust that will drive him to follow in his father’s footsteps. From the age of three, Gazes’ best friend has been a Khajiit named J’Khasha. Together, they will eventually form the Adventurers for Hire, which starts out as childhood imaginary fun, but becomes real as they get older. When they are 13, Gazes and J’Khasha begin adventuring around Chorrol under the guidance of Reedakus. They start out small at first, clearing pest animals and low-grade bandits from local farms and mines, before moving on to more challenging targets on their own. They soon begin to travel all across Cyrodiil, and develop a reputation as a cheap and reliable alternative to the Fighters Guild. During these adventures, Gazes saves an Argonian farm girl from trolls near Bravil. She is extremely grateful and they begin to exchange letters and meet whenever possible. Sadly, this relationship ended tragically, as this girl and her entire family were murdered by necromancers for their souls. Gazes arrived just too late to save her. Gazes and J’Khasha hunt down and kill those responsible, but this whole experience profoundly changes Gazes, leaving him with a deep hatred for necromancers. His family and friends try to comfort and console him, but it has little effect. Gazes wants to as much distance between him and this dark time as possible, and soon becomes obsessed with leaving Cyrodiil, if only for a little while. Gazes starts pressuring J’Khasha into adventuring outside Cyrodiil, claiming there are better opportunities in places like Skyrim. J’Khasha is resistant at first, until Gazes brings in two new clients, Gaius Vesuvio, an Imperial Mage, and Tsaravi, a beautiful Khajiit healer, who need escorts to the College of Winterhold. J’Khasha is so enamored with Tsaravi that he agrees without hesitation, much to Gazes’ surprise. Over the next month, as they travel north and adventure together, the four become friends. Once they complete the escort, Gazes and J’Khasha spend the next few months adventuring around Skyrim, building up their reputations. J’Khasha even gets special dispensation, from the Jarls of some major hold capitals, to enter their cities. Gaius and Tsaravi also occasionally hire them to escort them on their field assignments for the College. During one of these assignments, J’Khasha and Gazes are implicated in a crime in Markarth. A legate in the Imperial Legion, Ineria Dren, gives them a choice, one year in the Legion, or two years in Cidhna Mine. They choose the Legion, becoming part of Legate Dren’s elite squad, the Direwolf Pack. They participate in many battles and missions against the Stormcloaks over the next nine months, including the ambush at Pale Pass that captured Ulfric Stormcloak. When Alduin destroyed Helgen, Gazes, J’Khasha, and Ineria were the only members of the Direwolf Pack to make it out alive.
